MPPA 2008 EXECUTIVE BOARD

The MPPA has a nine-member executive board. Each year three terms expires and new individuals are elected at the annual meeting. The MPPA Executive Board members represent the MPPA in a number of capacities and at various functions.

Among their duties are lobbying at the local, state, and federal levels, working with government agencies on issues important to MPPA membership, listening to the ideas and opinions of membership and then working to incorporate those suggestions into MPPA activities, representing membership views at the National Pork Producers Council Annual Meeting, and overseeing activities at the association’s Mankato office.

Jacob Storm has a nursery to finish operation. He is serving his second term on the MPPA Executive Board and he co-chairs the MPPA Pork Congress Committee. He is also active in his church, county fair, and 4-H leader positions.

Terry Wolters is head of production for Pipestone Systems, where he oversees management of sows and works with the farmer/shareholders. Wolters is serving a second term on the MPPA Executive Board. He is co-chair of the Pork Congress Committee and is a member of the Legislative Committee.

Rick Grommersch is an independent producer in a networked farrowing operation, concentrating mainly on the finishing phase. He has served in various leadership positions on the Nicollet County Pork Producers Association, including president and vice president. He is serving his second term on the MPPA Executive Board and he co-chairs the MPPA Legislative Committee.

Jim Compart, a member of the 56-year-old Compart family swine breeding stock business for 55 years, sells breeding stock throughout the United State and many other foreign countries. Compart Family Farms® sells fresh and cured pork in the U.S under the Compart Brand. Compart is past Nicollet County Pork Producers Association President and a board member and past president of the National SPF Association. Compart is serving his first term on the MPPA Executive Board.

Kent Dornink finishes hogs in Fillmore County. This is his second term as an MPPA Executive Board member and he co-chairs the MPPA Pork Congress Committee. Dornink is also a member of the Fillmore County Economic Development Board, Fillmore County Airport Commission and Bristal Township Board President.

Pat FitzSimmons, along with his brothers John, Dick, Paul, Bill, and Mark, who is a veterinarian, nephew Dan Sohre, and Bron Scherer, are partners in Protein Sources Milling and Management, based in Mapleton. In addition to feed milling, Protein Sources owns and manages sow farms and a boar stud.

Schafer is a graduate of the Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership program. This is his second term on the MPPA Executive Board and he co-chairs the SIP/MPPA Partners Program Committee.
